The Atlas presents a comprehensive set of maps, data, charts, tables and comments related to the links between demographic changes, mobility and migration flows, educational shifts, potential growth of employment per gender, age group and educational attainment. The main justification of the Atlas is to help to anticipate global and local changes in the Labour Supply, both for institutions interested in labour market questions, for social partners, for human resource managers, for the recruitment business, etc. The projection horizon is in most cases limited to 2020 – those aged 15-64 in 2020 will all be born in 2005. Whenever relevant, the US Census Bureau projections are compared with GeoLabour’s projections, and the Eurostat projections are completed by GeoLabour’s regional projections.

The Atlas is divided in three sections :

Section
A : WORLD This introductory sections provides an overview of global trends, focusing on the problems related to ageing, to the working age population, educational progressions world-wide, continental migration, activity rates, sectoral reallocation of the workforce, etc.
50 pages

Section B : USA. This section (194 pages of Maps and comments) considers systematically the changes at State-level (comparing when relevant the demographic projections of the US Burean of the Census to GeoLabour’s alternative projections) and at the level of the 3400 counties and MSAs It makes an intensive use of the last Census’ data and opens to a permanent update – that will be made available through the website.
194 pages

Section C : Europe. This section is based on an extensive database including data from all countries of the
EU-25 and some more. Prospects are analysed down to 260 regions (NUTS2 level), and focus on the future potential for growth. Full-page maps help to scrutinise local prospects and continental changes. The emphasis is syste-matically put on educa-tional changes in combination with demo-graphic changes.
170 pages

Optional : CD with detailed values for each map and for each location with user-friendly extraction
